Raymond Phiffier, un jeune homme d'un caractère un peu naïf, aime tendrement la délicieuse Barbara Tuttle, qu'il croit de condition modeste, comme lui. Mais en réalité, la petite employée est la descendante d'une famille extrêmement riche. Sa mère est à la tête d'une chaîne de grands magasins. Elle refuse d'ailleurs d'envisager une telle mésalliance pour sa fille. Afin de ridiculiser le prétendant aux yeux de sa dulcinée, elle lui confie les tâches les plus délicates et les plus ingrates dans ses magasins. Timide et maladroit, le malheureux enchaîne sans cesse les bévues. L'amour est-il vraiment plus fort que tout ? Peut-il résister aux catastrophes en série ?...
Orville Spooner et Barney Milsap habitent à Climax, Nevada. L’un donne des leçons de piano, l’autre est garagiste. Tous deux composent des chansons. Un jour Dino, un chanteur de charme sur le retour, s’arrête à Climax. Barney sabote sa voiture de façon à lui faire passer la nuit chez Orville, où il pourra écouter leurs compositions. Mais Orville est extrêmement jaloux de sa femme, Zelda, et Dino un grand séducteur. Barney a alors l’idée de faire jouer le rôle de Zelda à Polly, une prostituée locale.
Après lui avoir sauvé la vie, Ben Rumson, un chercheur d'or, s'associe avec le jeune Pardner. Les deux hommes s'installent à No Name City, en Californie et sont déterminés à faire fortune par tous les moyens. Lors d'une vente aux enchères, Ben «achète» Elizabeth, l'une des deux épouses d'un mormon, ce qui ne l'empêche pas de se mettre en quête de prostituées, en compagnie d'autres mineurs. Pardner, quant à lui, préfère rester auprès d'Elizabeth. La cohabitation entre les trois compères va cahin-caha, jusqu'au jour où Elizabeth décide d'héberger une famille respectable, les Fenty. Ben se charge d'emblée de «l'éducation» du jeune homme nouvellement arrivé...
À Chicago, en 1936, Johnny Hooker et son acolyte Coleman volent sans le savoir le convoyeur de fonds de Doyle Lonnegan, un dangereux gangster de New York. Coleman est aussitôt abattu par le gang de ce dernier et Hooker se réfugie chez Henry Gondorff, un spécialiste de l'arnaque. Ceux-ci décident alors de venger la mort de Coleman en montant une vaste escroquerie destinée à mettre Lonnegan sur la paille. Pour cela, Hooker fait croire au gangster qu'il est capable d'obtenir les résultats des courses avant qu'ils ne soient officiellement connus.

Jeune, beau et arrogant, Griffin Mill est responsable de production dans l'une des grandes compagnies d'Hollywood. Son cynisme et son empressement à jeter à la poubelle les scénarios qui n'ont pas l'heur de lui plaire lui valent quelques ennemis acharnés, dont un mystérieux auteur de lettres anonymes qui ne cesse de le harceler. Griffin soupçonne un scénariste dépité, David Kahane, et lui donne rendez-vous. L'entretien tourne au pugilat. Kahane y laisse la vie. Griffin maquille son crime puis rend visite à la compagne du défunt, qu'il trouve à son goût et assez bien faite pour apaiser ses remords. Pendant ce temps, les lettres anonymes continuent d'arriver...
L'histoire de Lennie, colosse innocent, et de George, deux ouvriers migrants liés par une solide amitié, sillonnant les routes de Californie des années trente à la recherche d'un travail.
L'histoire commence là où la série s'était terminée, lorsque Gordon Shumway - mieux connu sous le nom de Alf, acronyme de "Alien Life Form" - est capturé par la Task Force Alien de l'US Air Force alors qu'il tente de quitter la Terre. Alf est alors enfermé à la base Edmonds, sous les ordres du colonel Milfoil. Ce dernier prévoit de tuer Alf pour les besoins d'un produit de beauté, en prenant soin de laisser une lettre mettant en cause son aide de camp, le lieutenant Reese, comme bouc-émissaire. Apprenant cela, 2 scientifiques de l'US Air Force - le major Mellisa Hill et le capitaine Rick Mullican - décident d'aider Alf à s'échapper, et parviennent à se réfugier dans un motel. La police et l'armée alertées, les 3 fugitifs se tournent alors vers Dexter Moyers, un ancien scientifique de la NASA. Son idée est de révéler au monde entier l'existence de Alf. Cependant, Mélissa découvre que Moyers a comme plan secret de vendre Alf au plus offrant.
En découvrant que ses grands-parents sont atteints de la « maladie de Valtzheimer », Gomez Addams organise une réunion familiale, espérant que la présence des nombreux membres de l'énorme arbre généalogique l'aidera à trouver un remède. Malheureusement, la société organisatrice de la réunion écrit incorrectement son nom de famille et le réunit à la place avec la famille Adams, dont le docteur Philip Adams (qui planifie d'empoisonner son propre père et de modifier le testament en sa faveur). Gomez espère que le docteur Adams pourra guérir ses grands-parents ; Morticia passe du temps avec les femmes ; Fétide et la Chose tentent de capturer Butcher, un chiot mutant qui se nourrit de cheveux humains ; et Pugsley tombe amoureux d'une fille nommée Gina.
C.C. Baxter est employé à la Sauvegarde, grande compagnie d'assurance. Dans l'espoir d'un avancement il prête souvent son appartement à ses supérieurs qui y emmènent leurs petites amies. Un jour le chef du personnel le convoque et lui apprend qu'il sait tout et lui demande aussi sa clé. Baxter est enfin promu. Mais ce qu'il ignorait c'est que le chef du personnel emmenait dans son appartement la femme dont il était amoureux.
